2024 starts a new chapter in my life! I am pursuing my lifelong dream. During the next several months, I will be going into the studio to record some of my favorite traditional country music influences and one or two self-penned songs. I will be doing a Kickstarter to help cover the costs. All your support will be greatly appreciated. My supporters will receive a signed copy and other items.
Jerry Mayberry’s Debut Album
Beginning –
Born April 26, 1964, from Barnesville, Ohio, I was the oldest of three children growing up with my sisters Deana and Vickie. We started performing for friends and family every time they visited my parents for different family events. My sisters and I would get a record player and use records from our mom’s collection and put up a sheet and put the music and sing to it. We all grew up on traditional country music. We lived about 30 miles from Wheeling, WV where they had the WWVA Jamboree every Friday and Saturday night and many times mom and dad would go to see the show featuring local talent and the famous country stars from Nashville, TN and as we got older, we attended shows too. That’s when my love for country music was cemented, and I loved singing, and I also was involved in my school chorus. I would try to listen to the Grand Ole Opry, but the radio signal wasn’t good in eastern Ohio and listened to the WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling, WV, where Grandpa Jones, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and Margo Smith played in their early careers. My parents always watched Hee Haw, and all the country music shows on television. Once when I was in my teenage years, I performed during school functions and then my grandfather got me connected with a Bluegrass group singing one summer at the state park. I can remember singing Hank Williams, Cheatin’ Heart and John Denver’s Country Roads, which was the first time singing on my own with a band and it just increased my love for traditional country music. In the mid 1980’s I sang at the Jamboree during Star Quest competitions but after high school I entered the United States Air, serving four years active and reserve duty. While serving in the military performed several times for military events, singing traditional country music and the national anthem at military functions. After my time in the military, I pursued my college degree in Mental Health from Belmont College and moved to Columbus, Ohio and while there I performed at many events. Finally, I moved to the Nashville area in 2003 and started working at the VA medical center and pursuing my bachelor’s degree in social work from Lipscomb and reached my master’s degree in social work. I started a karaoke business and have performed for local Nashville area organizations, Barnesville, Ohio Eagles, and the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival. I have performed at the world renown Tootie’s Orchard Lounge on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville, TN.
I have met several artists throughout the years, such as the Kendalls at the WWVA Jamboree in 1984, Reba McEntire in 1985, Ray Price in 1986, Tracy Byrd at Ponderosa Park in 1996, George Jones in 2011 in Nashville, backstage at the mother church of country music, the Ryman Auditorium, George remembered me from the Jamboree and encouraged me follow my dream. George died on my birthday April 26, 2013. I went to his memorial service at his gravesite and spoke with his wife Nancy and she mentioned George talked about meeting me several years earlier.

I have written over 700 traditional country music and gospel songs since I was a young boy listening and learning from the great country music artists. October 21, 2024, I went into Hilltop Recording Studios and recorded four cover songs and eight of my own songs. On December 4, 2024, I went back into Hilltop Recording Studios and recorded the music to fourteen more of my own songs. All I need to do is to return to the studio and record my vocals, the next step will be releasing all my recordings to the public. I will be having a release party early in 2025 and will have CD’s available for purchase. My music will be available on all the streaming platforms and Sirius XM and nationwide radio.
